300 hours of Italian in. Here’s what nobody tells you about the plateau.

The plateau isn't a wall, it's a scale problem. Early on, 10 hours doubles what you understand. At 300 hours, 10 hours is a rounding error you can't feel — so it FEELS like you stopped. You didn't. I started timing harder input (faster podcasts, no subs) and the 'stuck' feeling melted. The fix for a plateau is harder input, not more drilling.

'A rounding error you can't feel' — that's exactly it. Harder input unstuck me too. The wall was never real, the scale just changed. Best framing of the plateau I've read here.

Needed this. I keep reading my flat weeks as proof I've stopped. Going to step up the difficulty instead of grinding the same level harder.
